Activities of the APC

The Animal Protection Conference (APC) is carrying out campaigns against the animal-ignoring war of the human beings occurring at many places in the world.

700,000 animals are killed annually in the gas chamber of the animal control center.

1. The protection and treatment of animals abused at the Oita Wan Wan Hanamichi-en Park
2. Campaign to raise awareness about animal welfare by enforcing the Animal Protection Act.
3. The treatment for Ma-chan, a stray dog suffering lower partial paralysis.
4. Protests against cosmetics companies conducting animal tests.
5. Protests against Tokorozawa Veterinary Medical Association that opposes to the subsidy of spaying and neutering program.
6. Investigation on live experiments on animals and vivisection conducted by veterinary schools.
7. Free spaying and neutering for stray dogs and cats. (Over 1,000 operations have been performed to date.)
8. The rescue and treatment of wild animals.
9. Campaigns against the animal-ignoring war of the human beings occurring in the world.

The APC is active in protecting the rights of animals night and day.

ANIMAL TESTING FOR COSMETICS

Do you know what animal tests are like?

New products are put on the market one after another. Behind a glitzy advertisement animals are killed in return for the new shampoos and lipsticks. Rabbits are forced to put the shampoos into their eyes by animal testers and mice are forcefed lipstick. An estimated 300,000 animals are killed annually so that we can look beautiful.

Consumer pressure has forced manufacturers to develop alternatives to animal testing in Europe and the United States.

Unfortunately, animal tests are still conducted to develop cosmetics in Japan. You are unknowingly supporting animal testing every time you purchase cosmetics. Click here to visit the Japan Anti-Vivisection Association (JAVA).

CHINA BEAR RESCUE

10,000 bears are caged to extract bile from their gall bladder.

In China, they are kept for life (about 20 years). Catheters are surgically implanted with into gall bladders so that bile can be extracted and used to make aphrodisiacs. The pain is so acute that some bears attempt suicide.

The abuse of animals for our own sexual gratification is unacceptable. Demand the Chinese government to stop this cruelty at once.

Scientific whaling by the Japanese government is a commercial activity in the name of science.

The IWC has consistently criticized Japan for its killing of whales for scientific purposes as agreed to by the signatory members of the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling signed in 1946.

Japan has ignored the criticisms and sells whale meat wholesale for 3270 yen a kilogram. But, because the meat retails for 1,000 yen to several thousand yen per 100 grams, smuggling and poaching are not uncommon. This is only the tip of iceberg.
The problem lies in the fact that the whale meat obtained from scientific whaling is being sold to consumers. People across the world have been sending E-mail of anti-whaling to the Prime Minister of Japan. Click the button below to visit the Greenpeace site.
