General Hospital Pet Center Nagoshi president Kimihiro Nagoshi D.V.M. 犬と猫の中のアレルギーは、さまざまな名前で呼ばれますが、大抵の場合どれも症状はみな同じです。 アレルギーを持った人の場合は頻繁にくしゃみをしますが、アレルギーの犬や猫の場合はかゆみが1番の症状です。 アレルギーの犬はとてもかゆがります。 また、人と同じように犬のアレルギーは、遺伝的傾向があります。 親犬がアレルギーならば、子犬は同様にアレルギー体質だという可能性があります。 そのため、トイプードルやマルチーズ、ヨークシャーテリア、シーズー、ウエスティー、ビーグル、ワイヤーヘアドテリア、ダルメシアンなどのいくつかの種類においては、とても一般的な病気であることが分かります。 他の生まれつき〔遺伝的〕の病気と同じように、発病する時期〔アレルギーが出る時期〕は犬によって違います。 しかし、おおよそ、生後６ヶ月から３才までの間に、アレルギーが出始めます。 アレルギーの種類によっては、年中かゆがる犬もいれば、ある季節だけに限ってかゆがる犬もいます。 アレルギーの原因〔アレルゲン〕で、最もよく見られるのは、木や雑草からの花粉、羊毛、カビの胞子、ノミの唾液、ハウスダスト〔室内のゴミ・ホコリ〕などです。 今では、幸せなことに、アレルギーの原因を検査し、有効に治療する沢山の方法が、あります。 皮膚病の専門知識を持った獣医師は〔一般の獣医師ではありません〕人と同じように「皮内テスト」を使ってアレルギー試験を実行することが出来ます。これは１時間以内で結果が出ます。 その他、血液検査も簡単で、とても便利です。「皮内テスト」ほど確実ではありませんが、専門の獣医師に診てもらえない場合は、この方法がお勧めです。 アレルギーの犬の最良の治療方法は、 1. 抗アレルギー剤での薬浴 2. 抗アレルギー薬のスプレー 3. アレルギー注射 4. 抗ヒスタミン剤 5. 多価不飽和脂肪酸製剤 アレルギーは生涯にわたってケアしていく病気です。一時的な治療や、ほっておいても治る病気ではないので、獣医師とすべての検査・治療方法について、よく話し合い、十分な理解を得る事があなたのペットの為になります。

The best treatments for allergic dogs are 1. medicated baths 2. anti allergic sprays 3. allergy shots 4. antihistamines 5. special fatty acid formulations. Since allergies are a lifelong care, make sure to discuss all test and treatment for your pet with your veterinarian.
